Recipe Round-up: "Are you ready for some football" Recipes by Lauriebell's Bakery & Cafe

So last night kicked off the NFL season and with it comes some truely scumptious beer soaked, cheese covered, buffalo dipped recipes.  You don’t show up to a game Day  or tailgating party and enjoy a crunchy bite of crudité, you fill your tummy with deep fried turkey, chicken wings and cheese dip.  So kick-up your feet and check out this week’s best football game day recipes.

Cheddar, Bacon and Beer Cheese Ball by The Cooking Mom
Make sure to note that this recipe should be made the day before the big game as it needs some time to chill out in the fridge.  But it’s worth the wait to trowel a thick layer of this spread onto a salty cracker and let the beer, bacon and pecans dance a jig on your tongue!  To be honest, you might care more who had the last bite of this than who won the game.  Maybe…

Game Day Apple Bourbon Pork Sliders by Giggles Galore
OMG do these not look freaking addictive?!  That’s the problem with sliders, they just keep sliding to my waistline.  It’s worth it for these gourmet glammed up mini pulled pork sandwiches.  I’d serve this up with some crispy tangy cole slaw and a cold pint.

Cheesy Hash Brown Casserole by The Foodie Army Wife
My mum has a similiar recipe, the came via her BFF, that is a damn good crowd pleaser.  This recipe is packed with flavor and makes a great companion to the next recipe in this round-up.  Oh and if you have any leftover, which you won’t – trust me, then you can serve it up for breakfast.  Great hangover cure with a spicy bloody mary.

Beer and Brown Sugar Kielbasa & Sauerkraut by Brown Eyed Baker
Okay this recipe didn’t come out this week but it’s a great dish from a fellow Pittsburgh blogger and I couldn’t resist. I love how she starts off saying that she likes neither kielbasa nor sauerkraut but was in love with this recipe.  I don’t see how anyone could not like kielbasa but I get that sauerkraut is a taste that grows on you.  You need to team this up with a great sausage bread roll that is soft inside but has a nice crispy crust, I can just imagine it soaking up all those great flavors.

Fun Football Cookie Ideas by The Sweet Adventures of Sugarbelle
She links to all the recipes you need to come up with these imaginitive football themed cookies, just look in the navigation menu.  My favorites are the stadium cookies with the sprinkles for the fans (genius) and the foam fingers (thankfully not yet completely ruined in my mind by Miley Cyrus’ VMA moron-a-thon).  What other fun designs can you come up with?

Enjoy NFL season and Go Steelers!
